Central Region Rugby Association proposes inmate rugby club at Ankaful Prison

The Central Region Rugby Association (CRRA) has entered discussions with the Ghana Prisons Service to establish a rugby club at the Ankaful Maximum Security Prison. The initiative aims to support inmate rehabilitation and development through sport by fostering discipline and teamwork.

A CRRA delegation, led by Chairman Clement Dennis and Public Relations Officer Peter Caesar Kwegyir Aggrey, met with prison officials, including DDP Joseph Asabre and DSP Philip Asomani, to discuss the practical implementation of the program. As an initial gesture, the association presented a rugby ball to the officials.

The project is also part of a broader plan to launch a Central Region Security Services Rugby Championship. This competition is intended to involve various services, including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and the Ghana Armed Forces, with potential future expansion to include international security services.
