Central Romana achieves ISO 18788 security certification

Central Romana Corporation, Ltd. has become the first sugar mill in the Dominican Republic to obtain the ISO 18788:2015 international certification. This standard establishes requirements for private security operations management based on principles of responsibility, ethical conduct, and respect for human rights.

The certification was awarded by the auditing firm MSS Global following an evaluation of the company’s Guardacampestre department. This achievement places Central Romana among a small number of companies in the sugar sector across the Caribbean and Latin America to hold this specific accreditation.

The scope of the certification includes the management, provision, and supervision of physical security, logistics, electronic security, monitoring, access controls, and the coordination of emergency response teams within the company’s properties. The implementation aligns with international instruments such as the International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers (ICoCA) and the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
