Central Saanich Little League expands girls' baseball program

Central Saanich Little League is expanding its female baseball program following a successful inaugural season. The organization, which now hosts two teams, is looking to recruit more young players through a ‘Girls Baseball Try-It Night’ scheduled for August 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Saanichton field in Centennial Park.

Clare McDonald, the founder and coach of the girls' program, aims to provide a supportive environment to combat negative attitudes that often push young female players toward softball. The program invites girls aged five and older to participate, regardless of experience level, and provides necessary equipment for those who do not have their own.
