Central serous chorioretinopathy linked to stress

Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) is a frequent retinal disease characterized by the accumulation of fluid beneath the retina, typically in the macula. This condition affects approximately two million people worldwide and is ranked as the fourth most common maculopathy.

Medical experts note that the condition is strongly linked to stress, emotional pressure, sleep patterns, and certain personality traits such as high self-demand. While it most commonly affects men between the ages of 30 and 60, there is an increasing trend of seeing cases in younger individuals and adolescents associated with anxiety.

Symptoms include blurred vision, central spots, distortion of straight lines, loss of contrast, color alterations, and changes in object size. These visual impairments can significantly impact a patient's quality of life and ability to perform daily tasks like driving or reading.
