Central serous chorioretinopathy linked to stress

A patient, José Fraile, has shared his experience living with central serous chorioretinopathy, a condition where fluid leaks under the retina, causing a mild detachment of the macula. Fraile, an engineer, noted that his symptoms began in 2019 and have been linked to chronic occupational stress and a highly self-demanding personality.

While he maintains 100% vision, the damage to his left eye has resulted in color perception issues similar to color blindness. He sought specialized care at the Hospital Clínico San Carlos in Madrid under the direction of ophthalmologist José Ignacio Fernández-Vigo.

Medical experts note that the progression of this condition varies; while fluid may disappear spontaneously in some cases, the disease can become chronic or recur in others.
