Central Tyrrhenian Sea Port System Authority wins Smart Ports Award 2026

The Central Tyrrhenian Sea Port System Authority has been honored with the Smart Ports Award 2026 at the RemTech Expo. President Raffaele Latrofa accepted the award, which recognizes the authority’s integrated vision for sustainable development, digitalization, and decarbonization.

Key initiatives driving this recognition include an investment of over 80 million euros for the electrification of docks in Civitavecchia to allow ships to use shore power (cold ironing), reducing emissions. The authority is also developing renewable energy projects and establishing Italy’s first port-based Hydrogen Valley. Additionally, the authority is working on intermodal transport solutions, such as hydrogen-powered trains, and marine habitat restoration projects in collaboration with the University of Tuscia.
