Centre Chakhesang Youth Organisation issues directive as ultimatum expires
The Centre Chakhesang Youth Organisation (CCYO) has issued a directive to its units and the public as its seven-day ultimatum to the state government is set to expire on October 4, 2026. The organization's demands include the immediate withdrawal of a case against Vezhoto Hesuh for an alleged wildlife offence, the return of a seized Great Barbet, and an independent inquiry into an alleged demand for Rs 1 lakh regarding his release.
CCYO President Dode Nakro has instructed all village youth organisations within the Centre Chakhesang area to remain prepared and mobilize manpower and resources for “any eventuality.” The directive prohibits outsiders, including government agency personnel, from entering several villages under CCYO jurisdiction—including Lower Khomi, Middle Khomi, Upper Khomi, Pholami, Gidemi, Sakraba, and Porba—until further notice.
While vehicular movement on the Pfutsero-Phek road and traditional footpaths remains unrestricted, the CCYO has prohibited all forms of photography and videography by both residents and commuters within its jurisdiction without prior authorization. Additionally, all CCYO office-bearers and officials stationed outside the area have been ordered to return to their respective villages within 48 hours.
