Centreville police investigate suspected murder-suicide

Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department's Major Crimes Bureau are investigating a domestic-related murder-suicide in Centreville, Virginia. On September 9, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting report at a residence in the 6300 block of Sharps Drive.

Upon entering the home, police located 31-year-old Brandon Brown and his wife, 31-year-old Lavinia Brown, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced both deceased at the scene. Preliminary findings suggest Brandon Brown shot Lavinia Brown before shooting himself. A firearm and cartridge casings were recovered at the location.

Three children residing in the home were present during the incident but were not physically injured. Victim specialists have been assigned to provide the family with resources and assistance. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct autopsies to confirm the cause and manner of death.
