Centro Regional de Radioterapia Zona Norte provides precision cancer treatment

The Centro Regional de Radioterapia Zona Norte in Ciudad Juárez provides high-precision cancer treatment using advanced linear accelerator technology. This equipment, valued between 160 and 180 million pesos, allows for millimeter-precise radiation that targets cancer cells while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue.

Services are provided at no cost to MediChihuahua beneficiaries and are also available to patients referred through subrogation systems from institutions such as IMSS, ISSSTE, and Pensiones Civiles del Estado. By offering these services locally, the center prevents patients from having to travel to cities like Chihuahua, Monterrey, or Torreón for care.

Director Mauricio Acosta noted that private radiotherapy treatments can cost up to 300,000 pesos, a figure he described as a ‘catastrophic expense’ for individuals paying out-of-pocket. The center currently operates near its capacity, with approximately 76 to 80 patients scheduled for treatment daily.
