Centurion tank crushes vehicles at Cloverdale Legion
On September 12, the Cloverdale Legion, Branch No. 6, hosted a tank-crushing event to celebrate National Legion Week. A 50-ton Centurion tank flattened six vehicles, including cars, SUVs, and a van, for an audience of onlookers.
Scott MacMillan, past president of Branch No. 6, reported that approximately 2,500 people visited the Legion during the day. The event was organized in partnership with Cloverdale Market Days. The demonstration marks the second year of the tank-crushing spectacle following a multi-year hiatus.
National Legion Week is a Canadian event intended to inform the public about the Royal Canadian Legion’s work supporting veterans and their families, as well as highlighting community philanthropy and Remembrance Day.
