Centurion University students protest over insects in hostel food

Students at Centurion University's Jatni campus staged protests following allegations of insects, including cockroaches and lizards, being found in hostel meals. Protesters claimed that previous complaints regarding poor food quality and hygiene had gone unaddressed by university authorities.

The demonstration lasted several hours and escalated into unrest, with reports that some vehicles on campus were set on fire. Jatni police intervened to contain the situation and have since deployed personnel to the university premises to prevent further escalation.

University officials are reportedly in discussions with students regarding food quality and hygiene standards. Police have assured students that their complaints will be investigated.
