CEOE CEPYME Cuenca calls for regulations tailored to small businesses

The Confederation of Business Owners of Cuenca (CEOE CEPYME Cuenca) is calling for new regulations specifically tailored to small and micro-enterprises. The organization argues that current legislation is often designed for large corporations, creating a bureaucratic burden that small businesses lack the legal or fiscal departments to manage.

CEPYME president Ángela de Miguel noted that regulations should be designed with small businesses in mind first, as rules manageable for a small firm will naturally be manageable for a multinational, whereas the reverse is not true. The Confederation highlighted that Spain has lost approximately 25,000 micro-enterprises since the pandemic, citing complex bureaucracy, high taxation, and labor costs as contributing factors.
