CEOs discuss the role of AI in corporate management and decision-making

Corporate leaders are increasingly integrating artificial intelligence into management workflows to improve efficiency and information retrieval.

Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky reported using an AI-driven “intelligence corpus” trained on tens of thousands of company documents to gain total information visibility. Chesky stated that this system has allowed him to reduce his meeting time by half, helping him bypass the need for constant meetings to understand internal company operations. He noted that Airbnb is working toward becoming an “AI-native” company.

Sumitomo Corporation CEO Shingo Ueno highlighted the utility of AI for rapid information retrieval and efficiency, noting it can replace tasks that previously took a full day. However, Ueno emphasized the limitations of the technology, citing the Japanese concept of “kosoryoku”—the ability to conceptualize a future that has not yet been imagined. He argued that while AI is a powerful research tool, it lacks the human capacity to formulate original visions and can sometimes provide unusable results when used for complex decision-making.
