Cephalonia investigation: Suspects provide new testimony in Myrtos death case
New developments have emerged in the investigation into the death of 19-year-old Myrtos in Cephalonia. Three suspects, currently held in custody, have provided supplementary statements to judicial authorities following the upgrade of the charges to felony manslaughter with potential intent.
Defense attorneys for the suspects claim that the additional testimonies support their clients' original positions. One lawyer specifically argued that his client was in a different room when the critical incident occurred and was only called to assist with the victim's transport after the fact. These claims remain assertions by the defense and are not yet judicial facts.
The investigation is also focusing on events at the Cephalonia Hospital. Authorities are examining testimonies from medical staff to clarify which doctors were present and involved during the emergency response to the victim, who suffered pulmonary edema and cardiac arrest. This inquiry follows the resignation of the hospital's director and involves questions regarding the medical handling of the case.
