Cerdanyola del Vallès: Political shifts in mobility and 2027 mayoral candidacy

Political developments are unfolding in Cerdanyola del Vallès regarding urban mobility and future municipal leadership. Esquerra Republicana (ERC) has proposed extending the CV5 bus line to the Cerdanyola urban center to better connect the Technological Park, the Direction Center, and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) station. The group criticized the current Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS) for lacking specific budgets and execution timelines, calling for a new plan developed with greater stakeholder participation.

In local electoral news, Comuns Cerdanyola has unanimously selected Santi Cayuela as its candidate for mayor in the 2027 municipal elections. Cayuela, a former local councillor with experience in various municipal roles, aims to lead an "open and broad" candidacy focused on feminist and ecological projects. He criticized the current municipal administration for what he described as "minimum management" and a decade of missed opportunities.

Additionally, rail services on the R7 line have partially resumed connections to the UAB following a nearly year-long interruption on the section between Cerdanyola del Vallès and Cerdanyola Universitat. The service currently operates with two trains per hour in each direction on weekdays.
