Ceredigion councillors back vocational education hub at Lampeter campus
Ceredigion councillors have approved early-stage plans to transform the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) Lampeter campus into a vocational education centre. This development follows the January 2025 announcement that undergraduate courses would be removed from the Lampeter site, with remaining humanities courses relocating to Carmarthen by September 2025.
Ceredigion County Council, UWTSD, and Coleg Ceredigion are collaborating to create a hub for post-16 learners. A primary focus of the initiative is agriculture, which is a cornerstone of the local economy but currently lacks post-16 related courses in the area.
To support this, the council utilized funding from the Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns loan to purchase Llettytwppa, a traditional working farm. This site will be adapted into an agricultural education hub, offering Level 2 and 3 courses starting this September. The facility aims to provide practical training in agricultural and environmental disciplines, with a central emphasis on sustainable food production.
