Women's leadership and agricultural initiatives grow in Brazil

In Brazil, various initiatives are focusing on the empowerment and technical development of women in rural and cooperative sectors.

In Dourados, the CERGRAND Women's Committee held a meeting to strengthen female participation in cooperativism. The event, hosted at the Sicredi Centro-Sul MS/BA headquarters, featured discussions on leadership and personal development. CERGRAND Vice-President Newton Cândido da Silva emphasized the importance of women occupying decision-making and leadership roles within the cooperative to ensure its continued engagement and strength.

In Orleans, Epagri and the Municipal Secretariat of Agriculture collaborated with the Peasant Women's Movement (MMC) to promote the conservation of creole seeds and food production. The initiative included sharing technical experiences from Paraná and training women to multiply and distribute traditional seeds. Local officials noted that preserving these seeds maintains generational knowledge and supports family farming and the rural economy.
