Cerignola officials demand state intervention after ATM attack

Local authorities in Cerignola have expressed deep concern following a recent attack on an ATM, marking another incident in a series of similar crimes in the area. Mayor Francesco Bonito and Security Councilor Teresa Cicolella described the event as part of a consolidated and organized criminal pattern affecting the Foggia province and wider Puglia region.

Officials warned that these recurring attacks could lead banks to permanently deactivate ATMs, potentially isolating smaller centers from essential services. The administration has called for increased state intervention, including more personnel and extraordinary powers, to combat the systematic nature of these crimes and prevent a climate of insecurity from harming the local economy.
