Cerignola officials meet with ASL Foggia to discuss emergency service cuts
Officials from the Municipality of Cerignola and the ASL Foggia health authority met to discuss the restructuring of the 118 emergency medical service. The primary focus of the meeting was the municipal administration's demand to reverse the decision to suppress one of the city's active emergency stations.
Mayor Francesco Bonito and Councilor Teresa Cicolella presented the critical needs of the local population, noting that the vast territory and large user base require a timely and effective emergency presence. The Mayor emphasized that the current reduction in resources has led to dangerous delays, noting instances where ambulances from other municipalities were required and only helicopter intervention prevented potential tragedies.
ASL Foggia leadership, including Director General Tiziana Di Matteo, listened to the concerns and reserved the right to analyze the technical reasons presented before making a final determination. Local officials expressed optimism following the meeting, stating they found the interlocutors attentive and are awaiting a formal response regarding the safeguarding of the rescue network.
