Cerisano becomes a model for European peripheral regeneration

The Calabrian village of Cerisano has emerged as a model for European peripheral regeneration after successfully spending and accounting for 100% of its PNRR funds as of June 30, 2026. This figure significantly exceeds the national average of 33% for the same period.

This success is attributed to the ‘Cerisano Factory – Borgo Swing’ project, funded by the Ministry of Culture through the National Borghi Plan and Next Generation EU resources. The initiative has fostered collaborations in education and research, including music technology courses with the ‘Stanislao Giacomantonio’ Conservatory and a specialized master's degree in human resources management with the University of Calabria.

Due to these results, The Left group of the European Parliament will hold a discussion in Cerisano on September 4 regarding the future of peripheries and strategies for territorial revitalization.
