Cerkno search operation finds missing elderly man

A search operation in the Cerkno municipality successfully located a missing man, nearly 90 years old, on Wednesday, September 30. The individual had been reported missing the previous day.

Police, firefighters, and rescue dog handlers located the man in poor health on a steep, difficult-to-access slope near the Straža settlement. Following first aid provided by local firefighters, the Slovenian Army deployed a helicopter to transport him to the emergency department at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana due to his critical condition.

Authorities noted that the rapid coordination between police, rescue services, and medical personnel was essential for the successful recovery of the individual in such challenging terrain.
