Copa Libertadores: Corinthians and Palmeiras advance to quarter-finals

The Copa Libertadores round of 16 has concluded with several key matchups. Corinthians secured their place in the quarter-finals after a 1-0 victory over Rosario Central at the Neo Química Arena. Despite playing with ten men following Raniele's red card, Breno Bidon scored the decisive goal in the 35th minute, assisted by Memphis Depay. The defeat has left Rosario Central captain Ángel Di María questioning his professional future. Corinthians will face Estudiantes in the next round.

In another matchup, Palmeiras advanced to the quarter-finals by defeating Cerro Porteño 1-0 in Paraguay, thanks to a header from Gustavo Gómez. Palmeiras will face LDU in the next stage. LDU secured their qualification after a penalty shootout victory (5-4) against Mirassol following a 0-0 draw in Quito, Ecuador. Mirassol, making their tournament debut, was eliminated despite a competitive performance.

With these results, Brazil has the potential to have all four of its representatives—Corinthians, Palmeiras, Flamengo, and Fluminense—in the semi-finals, a historic first for the competition.
