CERS establishes itself as a rugby rehabilitation leader
The Centre Européen de Rééducation du Sportif (CERS) in Capbreton has established itself as a leading facility for sports rehabilitation in France and Europe. The center treats approximately 3,200 patients annually, including roughly 250 professional rugby players from the Top 14 and Pro D2 leagues.
Rehabilitation programs at CERS are multidisciplinary, involving doctors, physiotherapists, physical trainers, psychologists, and dietitians. The approach emphasizes a holistic recovery, addressing both physical conditioning and mental health. Dr. Éric Laboute noted, “The doctor pilots the therapeutic project with the patient. We take care of the athlete as a whole.”
While the facility utilizes advanced technology such as AlterG and Biodex, director Vincent Delcros maintains that human expertise is the primary driver of success. Current patients include several Stade Toulousain players, such as Anthony Jelonch, Léo Banos, and Marceau Marzullo, who undergo intensive daily sessions involving occupational therapy and specific strength training to prevent injury recurrence and return to peak performance.
