Certosa di Firenze to host conference on the history of art frames

The Certosa di Firenze will host “Intorno al quadro” (Around the Painting) on Sunday, September 27, at 4:30 PM. This conference, part of the Festival delle Associazioni Culturali Fiorentine, explores the history and role of picture frames in art.

The event features two primary presentations: Angela Pieraccioni will discuss “Le cornici nell’arte sacra” (Frames in Sacred Art), focusing on the relationship between frames and religious artistic production, while Francesca Fiorelli Malesci will present “Il più mobile dei mobili: la cornice” (The Most Mobile of Furniture: The Frame), examining frames as objects of art and decor that reflect the culture of their eras.

Musical performances by the Tuscan Chamber Orchestra will accompany the discussions. The event is organized by Accademia Il Fauno, the Associazione Giovanni Arcidiacono, and friends of Palazzo Davanzati and Casa Martelli, with patronage from the Tuscany Region.
