Cerveteri administration criticized over heatwave response for elderly

The Cerenova and Campo di Mare zone committee has criticized the administration of Cerveteri for failing to adequately support elderly residents during intense heatwaves. Enzo Musardo, president of the committee, expressed frustration regarding the lack of response from Mayor Elena Gubetti concerning requests to open local community centers for cooling relief.

While the municipality eventually authorized limited opening hours for senior centers in Valcanneto and Cerveteri, the Cerenova center was only permitted to open for two and a half hours in the afternoon. The committee noted that other public centers typically remain open all day during such weather to assist those without air conditioning, and they had previously offered volunteer assistance to help manage the facilities at no cost.
