Cervia to host Ironman Italy Emilia Romagna in September 2026

The ninth edition of Ironman Italy Emilia Romagna is scheduled to take place in Cervia from September 17 to 20, 2026. The international triathlon event is expected to attract approximately 6,500 athletes from around the world.

The weekend program includes the official presentation and the Parade of Nations on Thursday, September 17, followed by a non-competitive 5-kilometer Night Run. Friday will feature Ironkids activities for younger participants. The main competitions occur on the weekend, highlighted by the Ironman 70.3 race on Sunday, September 20. This middle-distance race involves a 1.9-kilometer swim in the sea, a 90-kilometer cycling course through the Cervia Salt Nature Reserve and Sangiovese vineyards toward Bertinoro, and a 21.1-kilometer half marathon.

Due to the event, significant traffic changes will be implemented. On Saturday, September 19, the E45 will be closed from Ravenna to the via Emilia junction starting at 05:00. The Secante and via San Cristoforo will also face closures. On Sunday, September 20, road closures will follow a modified schedule because the race start time has been moved one hour earlier than in previous years. The E45 is expected to close at 07:30, with the Secante and via San Cristoforo closing at 09:30.
