Cervières issues water consumption restrictions due to contamination

The municipality of Cervières has issued immediate restrictions on water consumption following the detection of microbiological non-compliance. Analyses conducted by the Agence Régionale de Santé (ARS) revealed the presence of enterococci, indicating bacterial contamination.

Residents are strictly prohibited from drinking tap water directly or using untreated water for preparing meals, washing raw vegetables, brushing teeth, or preparing baby formula. To make water safe for drinking and cooking, it must be brought to a rolling boil for at least five minutes. Unboiled water remains suitable for non-food uses such as showering, cleaning, and flushing toilets, though ingestion should be avoided during showers.

Fragile individuals, including infants and immunocompromised persons, are advised to use bottled water exclusively. Local technical services are currently performing network purging and reinforced chlorination. A distribution of bottled water is organized for Thursday, September 3, at the technical services and the town hall. Authorities will provide updates once health officials validate a return to normal conditions.
