Cesantes hosts closing of maritime sustainability project

The “Mariscando conCiencias para o Futuro” project concluded its activities at Cesantes beach, marking a year of collective work focused on the future of shellfishing and coastal sustainability. The initiative aimed to create a shared space connecting shellfishing, science, community involvement, and artistic creation.

Key objectives included raising awareness about marine debris and introducing the maritime profession to younger generations to develop protective strategies for the Ensenada de San Simón through 2040. The closing event featured exhibitions, workshops, and dance performances. Local officials, including the Mayor of Redondela, Digna Rivas, recognized the contributions of shellfishing collectives, the Artelixo association, the University of Vigo, and local educational centers.
