Cesare Pergola artwork to be unveiled on Cammino dei Briganti

An official presentation for a new artwork by artist Cesare Pergola will take place this Wednesday along the Cammino dei Briganti. The sculpture is located on the mountain stage between Scanzano, a hamlet of Sante Marie, and San Donato, a hamlet of Tagliacozzo, in the Abruzzo region.

The project was funded through the Abruzzo Region’s ‘Bando Cammini’ competition, which drew entries from twenty artists across Italy and beyond. Pergola’s design was selected unanimously by a jury following a competitive evaluation process.

The installation is part of a broader regional enhancement project that includes the restoration of an ancient spring and the construction of a small wooden structure intended for daytime shelter and emergency overnight bivouacking. The event will feature guided walks led by the path’s creator, Luca Gianotti, and the Mayor of Sante Marie, Lorenzo Berardinetti.
