Cesare Tirabasso honored at commemorative event in Porto San Giorgio

The Accademia Italiana della Cucina held a commemorative event in Porto San Giorgio to honor the legacy of chef Cesare Tirabasso. Tirabasso, originally from Montappone, was a significant figure in Italian gastronomy who worked across the Marche region, in Argentina, and on cruise ships.

Through his three published volumes, Tirabasso documented the historical transition from aristocratic cooking to a more accessible, bourgeois style of cuisine suitable for both professionals and families during Italy’s economic boom. His work also emphasized the critical link between nutrition and health.

The ceremony included an “impossible interview” reenactment and a roundtable discussion regarding the preservation of his legacy. Proposals emerged to support his memory, including the creation of a dedicated gastronomy fund in the Montappone library and a new award for traditional cuisine restaurants. The event was supported by regional and provincial authorities, including the Marche Region.
