CESE launches citizen convention on public finances
The French Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESE) has established a governance committee to oversee a new citizen convention focused on public finances. The initiative aims to address critical questions regarding how to regain control of public finances, reduce deficits, and prepare for the future.
Approximately 150 citizens, selected by lottery through a polling institute, will participate in the convention. The group will meet in Paris for seven sessions between November 27 and the end of March. The process will begin with an acculturation phase to help participants understand the complexities of public finance before moving into formal deliberations. The convention is expected to conclude with the submission of a final report.
