Cesena considers permanent alcohol ban following youth violence
A recent altercation involving minors in the Barriera district of Cesena has renewed local concerns regarding public safety. The incident, reportedly sparked by a trivial dispute, prompted calls to emergency services and an intervention by the Carabinieri and local police. While no medical assistance was required, authorities identified the minors involved.
In response to recurring violence and disturbances, the Municipality of Cesena has implemented an extraordinary ordinance, effective since August 4, which prohibits the sale and consumption of takeaway alcohol in the streets between 20:30 and 07:00. This measure is currently set to expire on October 31.
Luca Ferrini, the Councilor for Security and Legality, stated that the administration is evaluating whether to transform this temporary ordinance into a permanent regulation. If adopted, the rules could be expanded to other sensitive areas, such as school zones, to prevent the formation of groups that contribute to noise and harassment.
