CESFAM de Colbún provides over 1,000 complementary medicine sessions

The CESFAM de Colbún, part of the Maule Health Service (SSM) network, has provided over one thousand complementary medicine (MAC) sessions so far in 2026. These practices are designed to complement conventional medical care and align with the Integral Care Strategy Centered on Persons (ECICEP) and the family health model.

The available therapies include reiki, floral therapy, meditation, sonotherapy using quartz bowls, yoga, and massage therapy. These tools aim to provide self-care and accompaniment by addressing the diverse needs of patients.

Local residents have reported positive social and physical outcomes from the program. Lorena Barros Morales, a social worker and the person in charge of complementary medicines at the facility, noted that these therapies are fundamentally linked to the principles of primary care and the family health model.
