CESFRONT marks 20 years of Dominican border security
The Specialized Land Border Security Corps (CESFRONT) is marking 20 years of service in securing the Dominican Republic's land borders. Created by Decree 325 in 2006 as a dependency of the Ministry of Defense, the organization officially began operations in September 2007.
CESFRONT is responsible for maintaining permanent security and control at formal entry and exit points along the border. Its primary mission includes conducting patrols, establishing checkpoints, and performing observation duties to counteract organized crime. Key areas of focus include drug trafficking, arms and goods smuggling, irregular migration, and human trafficking, as well as the protection of natural resources and the environment.
