CESPT invests 661.5 million pesos in water infrastructure via Green Bond
The Tijuana State Public Services Commission (CESPT) has utilized 661.5 million pesos from the ‘Bono Verde’ (Green Bond) to fund water and sanitation infrastructure in Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito. This sustainable financing instrument is promoted by the state administration in collaboration with the North American Development Bank (NadBank).
To date, the investment has resulted in nine completed projects, with two additional projects currently under execution. The funds have been directed toward water purification, storage, conduction, and wastewater treatment. Completed works include the rehabilitation of the conduction line from the La Presa Water Treatment Plant to the Morelos Plant, the rehabilitation of the Otay Potable Water Tank and its supply line, and repairs to the pumping system at the Obrera Tank.
Mónica Vega Aguirre, Director General of CESPT, stated that these resources are being applied to plants, tanks, conduction lines, pumping systems, and collectors to improve infrastructure operation and provide greater reliability to local families.
