CESPT reports progress on binational Tijuana River sanitation projects

Mónica Vega Aguirre, Director General of the Tijuana State Public Services Commission (CESPT), presented updates on binational sanitation infrastructure projects to the Tijuana River Working Group in San Diego. The presentation detailed 17 projects that are either completed, in progress, or planned as part of the commitments under Minute 328.

The project portfolio involves an investment of 15.687 billion pesos, with an expected completion date for the established works set for 2027. Key completed works include the San Antonio de los Buenos treatment plant, which began operations in May 2025 with a capacity of 800 liters per second, and the rehabilitation of the CILA and Laureles I pumping plants.

Ongoing efforts include the modernization of the PB1-A and PB1-B pumping plants, which have been in operation for over 60 years. These upgrades are intended to renew essential components for wastewater conveyance in the Tijuana region.
