Cessapalombo inaugurates Butterfly Garden following earthquake reconstruction

The municipality of Cessapalombo has officially inaugurated the new Butterfly Garden in the Montalto district, marking a significant milestone in the region's post-earthquake reconstruction. The project, completed ten years after the devastating seismic events of October 26, 2016, represents a major investment in local biodiversity and natural heritage.

Funded by over 1.1 million euros in earthquake reconstruction funds, the project includes a 430-square-meter building and a 12,000-square-meter garden. The site is designed to showcase the biodiversity of the Monti Sibillini National Park, which is home to 851 different species of lepidoptera, including both diurnal butterflies and nocturnal moths.

The ceremony was attended by various regional and local officials, including the extraordinary commissioner for the 2016 earthquake reconstruction, Guido Castelli, and the mayor of Cessapalombo, Giuseppina Feliciotti.
