Água Boa plane crash kills three in vertical impact

A twin-engine aircraft crashed in a rural area near Água Boa, Mato Grosso, resulting in the deaths of three men. The impact was described by forensic experts as a near-vertical descent that occurred with extreme violence, leaving no signs of an attempted emergency landing or dragging on the ground. The wreckage was consumed by fire, and the victims were found carbonized inside the aircraft.

Investigations revealed that the aircraft, a Cessna with registration N401NA, had a criminal history. It was previously seized by the Federal Police in 2017 during an international drug trafficking investigation after more than 60 kg of cocaine were found hidden in its structure. Although the plane had been recently purchased by a new owner following unsuccessful auctions, authorities noted it was not in flight condition and possessed irregular registration details.

The accident is being investigated by the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENIPA) and the Civil Police. Forensic teams are conducting DNA and toxicology tests to identify the victims.
