Cessna plane crash near Telluride kills two

Two people have died following the crash of a single-engine Cessna T206H in the mountains southwest of Telluride, Colorado. The aircraft went down on the north side of Dolores Peak, approximately 15 miles from Telluride.

The plane had departed from Grand Junction after refueling to perform survey and mapping work when it was reported missing by Denver Air Traffic Control. The incident was first noted after a bystander reported seeing smoke rising from the remote mountain terrain.

Search and rescue teams, including helicopter crews, were deployed to the site, but authorities confirmed that there were no survivors. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched a formal investigation into the crash. Investigators intend to examine the pilot, the aircraft, and the environmental conditions, including weather, lighting, and maintenance records.
