Cessnock man refused bail over theft and indecent exposure charges

Joseph Darren Williams, 37, has been refused bail following allegations of theft and indecent exposure in Cessnock. Williams appeared in a bail division court representing himself.

He faces multiple charges, including three counts of larceny, two counts of behaving in an offensive manner in public, and carrying out a sexual act without consent. Police reports indicate that after being called to a hall on Cumberland Street on September 16 regarding inappropriate behaviour, investigators received reports of a man stealing items from a supermarket on Keene Street. During these alleged thefts, Williams reportedly exposed himself both inside the supermarket and outside.

Williams was arrested on Cumberland Street on Saturday and subsequently refused bail by police. Following his court appearance on Sunday, where he did not enter pleas or apply for bail, he was again refused bail. He is scheduled to appear in Cessnock Local Court on October 1.
