CET Grozăvești thermal plant shutdown in Bucharest

Electrocentrale București (ELCEN) has announced a controlled temporary shutdown of the CET Grozăvești thermal power plant. The shutdown is scheduled to begin on Sunday, August 16, at 22:00 and is expected to conclude by Monday, August 17, at 12:00.

The measure is a direct result of planned maintenance by Apa Nova București, which involves relocating a flow meter on a branch line located at Splaiul Independenței nr. 227. This work requires a suspension of raw water supply from Sunday night until Monday morning at 05:00.

Because the water supply is essential for the chemical treatment process used to produce the softened water required for the heating circuit, the plant cannot maintain operations during the intervention. ELCEN has scheduled the shutdown during the period of lowest thermal energy consumption to minimize the impact on residents. The primary effect for consumers served by CET Grozăvești is expected to be a temporary reduction in hot water parameters during Monday morning, rather than a prolonged total interruption.
