Cetam launches inaugural informatics course for adolescents with autism in Manaus
Thaisa Cidade, the First Lady of Amazonas and honorary president of the Social Promotion and Poverty Eradication Fund (FPS), attended the launch of a new stage of professional qualification courses at the Amazonas Technological Education Center (Cetam) in Manaus.
This stage includes a first-of-its-kind Advanced Informatics course specifically designed for adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). To support the students, the Benjamin Constant Institute has been equipped with a new computer laboratory.
The program also features a unique support structure for families: while adolescents attend classes, their mothers can utilize a dedicated waiting room to participate in their own professional qualification courses. This allows both mothers and children to pursue education simultaneously.
Since 2025, Cetam has been expanding its inclusive training, offering various courses such as ASD Inclusion Agent, ABA Therapy Assistant, and School Support Professional, as part of a larger initiative providing thousands of free vocational training spots in Manaus.
