Cetinje historical core works reinstated after appeal
The Administration for the Protection of Cultural Property has overturned a previous decision that had halted construction works in the historical core of Cetinje. The new ruling accepts an appeal filed by the Secretariat for Housing and Communal Affairs of the Cetinje Old Royal Capital.
The dispute centered on maintenance works in Bajova Street, Ivana Crnojevića Street, Vladika Petra Street, and Vojvode Batrića Martinovića Street. The Secretariat had initially sought guidance from the Administration, which reportedly stated that the interventions could be carried out as regular maintenance of cultural property under Article 75 of the Law on the Protection of Cultural Property, without requiring specific conservation conditions.
Following the commencement of works, the Administration had issued a decision to suspend the project and restore the locations to their original state. However, after the Secretariat appealed, the Administration issued a new decision adopting the appeal and canceling the suspension order for the cadastral parcels located within the historical core.
