Cetys Universidad achieves Green Flag certification across all campuses

Cetys Universidad has achieved the Green Flag distinction from the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) across all three of its campuses: Tijuana, Ensenada, and Mexicali. This marks the first time all three locations have simultaneously received the Eco-Schools certification, which recognizes institutions for meeting specific sustainability and environmental education criteria.

The Tijuana campus earned the distinction for the second consecutive year, Ensenada received its third, and Mexicali obtained the certification for the first time. To achieve this, the campuses implemented a methodology involving environmental committees, internal audits, action plans, and the integration of sustainability projects into academic life.

Key initiatives mentioned include the ‘Cetys Zero Waste’ program at the Tijuana campus, which aims to reduce waste sent to landfills. Jannette Campos Vara, Project Manager for Eco-Schools at the FEE, noted that the process is designed to involve the entire university community to modify behaviors and foster global environmental citizenship among students.
