Ceuta authorities investigate death of protected dolphin calf

The Association for the Defense of Urban Forestry, Biodiversity and the Environment (DAUBMA) has filed a formal complaint with the Guardia Civil following the violent death of a protected bottlenose dolphin calf at El Trampolín beach in Ceuta.

According to witness testimonies and video evidence, a group of individuals from an informal settlement removed the calf from the water, displayed it, and allegedly struck it. The animal was later found dead among rocks with visible signs of cranial trauma. The case has been referred to the Environmental Prosecutor's Office to investigate potential crimes against protected fauna and aggravated animal cruelty.

DAUBMA has also reported other instances of suspected environmental crimes in the autonomous city, including the vandalism of feral cat colonies, the attempted capture of geese, and the aggression of a small octopus. The association is calling for urgent investigations and veterinary assessments to identify those responsible for these actions.
