Ceuta border traps prompt ATME appeal to Spanish Parliament

The Spanish Troop and Seamen Association (ATME) has formally appealed to parliamentary groups in both the Congress and the Senate regarding the use of makeshift traps in high-risk border areas of Ceuta. The concern follows the circulation of a video showing an individual demonstrating how to place loose stones over cardboard to cause military personnel to fall during their duties.

ATME argues that these actions jeopardize the physical integrity of deployed personnel and hinder their ability to carry out assigned missions. The association is demanding explanations from the Government and the Ministry of Defense, specifically inquiring whether authorities were aware of these obstacles and what measures have been taken to reinforce security, such as increased surveillance or terrain reconnaissance.

Furthermore, the association is calling for the identification and arrest of the individuals involved, asserting that threats or actions intended to endanger military members, security forces, or public servants must not go unpunished. They have also requested data regarding the number of such incidents recorded since the onset of mass migration flows.
