Ceuta families wait at border for children stuck in Spanish enclave
Dozens of families gathered along the barrier that separates the Moroccan town of Fnideq from the sea, looking for relatives who have entered the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. Some young people have managed to return and reunite with their parents, while others remain inside the enclave.
Spanish authorities have tightened maritime controls and installed a floating barrier along the border. Testimonies illustrate the human impact: fisherman Hamza Raissouni said he lost his son’s insulin doses while crossing the sea, causing a dangerous rise in blood‑sugar that was later treated by an ambulance. Mother Rachida Mamakh pleaded with Moroccan officials to assist the youths, describing a lack of food, water and mistreatment. Samia Rahmani recounted that her daughter and son were taken to Ceuta; after confirming their safety, her son later called to say he had returned to Tetouan.
