Ceuta courts investigate alleged military assaults on migrants

Judicial authorities in Ceuta have launched multiple investigations into allegations that Spanish military personnel assaulted and tortured migrants. The investigations follow the submission of at least twenty medical reports from the Ceuta University Hospital to the courts. These clinical documents include patient identities, descriptions of injuries, and explicit statements from victims alleging they were struck by soldiers during patrols intended to contain mass migration entries in late July.

The legal proceedings are being handled through several distinct channels. The Prosecutor's Office has initiated inquiries following a report from Amnesty International documenting claims of cruel and inhuman treatment. Additionally, the Ministry of Defense has transferred audio recordings to the judiciary in which military members allegedly boast about using violence against foreigners. The High Court of Justice of Andalusia has confirmed that various courts are investigating these separate complaints, which stem from the period following the arrival of tens of thousands of people from Morocco.
