Ceuta hosts first nursing deontological conferences to discuss new ethical code
The Official College of Nursing of Ceuta, in collaboration with the Faculty of Health Sciences, held the first Deontological Nursing Conferences at the University of Granada's Ceuta Campus. The event focused on the updated Spanish Nursing Ethical and Deontological Code, which replaces the previous framework that had been in place since 1989.
The new code aims to address modern challenges in healthcare, including digital health, artificial intelligence, patient safety, and ethical dilemmas regarding end-of-life care. The update also reflects expanded professional competencies, such as nursing prescription capabilities.
The opening session included representatives from the National Deontological Commission, the Directorate General of Health, and the Faculty of Health Sciences. Approximately 200 nursing students attended the sessions to learn how these updated ethical guidelines will shape their future clinical practice and professional responsibilities.
