Ceuta: Journalist detained during strict customs inspections

Tg2 journalist Lorenzo Lo Basso reported being detained and subjected to rigorous customs inspections upon arriving in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. The reporter stated that his crew was forced to leave behind their vehicle and professional filming equipment after authorities determined they lacked a required self-declaration form for the cameras.

Lo Basso noted that while the officials were cordial, they were inflexible regarding the restrictions. He observed that his group was the only one among approximately one hundred vehicles from the same ship to undergo such intensive searches and questioning. The journalist suggested the incident might be linked to increased border controls at Spanish frontiers, though he characterized the experience as an ‘excess of zeal’ that delayed their reporting mission.
